I wont be able to write it till later. But if I do I guarantee nobody with a functioning brain will think the Raptor has a weak frame after reading it.

Well the video was posted in 2010, making the truck at least 4 years old.

Are they really that bad?

The first year model they were. Some people went desert running (which is what they were built for) and came back with bent frames where the bed met the cab. Granted they might have done some small jumps but it shouldn't have bent when it was being used for what it was built.

The Raptor has 6 inches of uptravel, 6 inches of down travel. If you hit a 8-12 inch dirt kicker (a curb) at 80-120 MPH (speeds they admitted to doing) on a road they had not pre-run, you will break your truck. I'm going to write a longer piece about it, but the Raptor has a perfectly strong frame. However, everything has a breaking point and it is better to bend a frame, which doesn't affect the driveability of the vehicle, than it is to break, say, a shock mount when you're a hundred miles via dirt road to the nearest Ford dealer.

Not to mention, it's a $800 to repair the frame at a dealer and you maintain your warranty intact. A single rear Raptor shock costs around $700, so bending the shocks would be much more expensive.

To TL;DR MtrRider, they're not bad at all, they're fantastic. The problem was all the people who bought one of these...

Kinja'd!!!

...thought they had bought one of these...

Kinja'd!!!

...so they drove it like this...

Kinja'd!!!

...then when the frames bent they insisted it was clearly a defect in Ford's design.

Why the ones after 2011 are fine it was the few 2010 models that had the problem. Don't get me wrong if I could have a new one I would but the first models had a problem of bending.

The 2010-2012 trucks have identical suspension and frame.
